Nazifa PPJ 9/Post mortem

This week was a lot of last minute UI designs. A lot of the flashing for the health whenever you take a lot of damage, final touches to the homescreen, organized all of the UI art into folders so Michelle can use it properly. That's pretty much it. Now I wait for the devs to put all of our stuff in.


For me personally, I am proud of what I did. My stuff is the stuff you find in games that you don't think about but will notice if it isn't there. I went through many iterations of the pause, home, and health ui and after all of that, I am quite proud of it since it is what I wanted to do since we started this project. Making UI art for Its Haunt Time made me really happy away from the tedious but equally rewarding animations so I was glad to keep doing it for this term too. I was able to use github properly still and I didn't cause any fires unlike last term where I caused 1. I feel much more comfortable using Photoshop and Github which I will definitely need in my senior project going forward. All the different teammates were super helpful and played a pivotal role to make this game is what it is, if one didn't get their stuff done that week, the rest of the team couldn't move forward which can be a positive and negative when we are so codependent on each other. It keeps us motivates to give our stuff on time but can cause problems as well.


Stuff that we could have been a lot better on is mainly communication. There were some people that just simply up and left without making sure that everyone understood that they were busy or they couldn't be there for a bit. It caused a lot of friction between them and the team. I kept myself away from this discord as much as possible and everything went back to normal but even experiencing it was stressful and it made it hard for me to focus at times when the Discord notifications of the arguments are going off. I really wish I was more comfortable in Unity like how I was 3 terms ago so I can implement my UI art myself but Michelle took up that mantle herself.
